Gomi’s first opponent in the UFC might be Kenny Florian. It looks like they aren’t giving Gomi an easy warm up fights, it’s right to a title contention bout for him. This fight is being planned to main event Fight Night 21 making that card pretty stacked for a free Fight Night. This fight could easily be a co-main event for a regular UFC.

This is going to be a huge test for Gomi and we will see if he still has anything left. Personally I have always been a Gomi fan but after watching his last four fights I have to face reality and say that he won’t be able to hang with Florian. Basically Florian has been getting better and better while Gomi has been getting worse and worse. I think I might have enjoyed it more if they gave him a few cans to knockout first. Now that he is entering the UFC after the prime of his career, his past exploits will most likely be discredited after he loses, and that’s a shame.
