Pac Man defeats the Pride of Puerto Rico

As the lights dimmed, fans, onlookers, and clash of national prides overtook the musty environment of the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. A meeting of two of the most distinct cultures in the world; the Philippines, with their die hard attitude and perseverance, and Puerto Rico, with their indomitable spirit, and never-give-up outlook on life. The stage was set, the actors ready to perform, as 50-3-2 challenger, Manny Pacquiao entered the ring, a buzz of Filipino cheers in his midst. His combatant, WBO Welterweight Champion of the world, Miguel Cotto, a powerhouse and much larger than Pacquiao’s previous opponents, followed him into the ring ready to defend his title.
Cotto came out in the first round and beat Pacquiao with the cleaner punches and counter punches. This would be, however, his only definitive round, as Pacquiao’s speed, agility, and punching power overwhelmed Cotto. What was most surprising was the Pacquiao’s ability to absorb the punches from the apparently stronger and heavier Miguel Cotto. This didn’t seem to be the case however, and as the fight wore on, it was apparent that Cotto’s power could not test Pacquiao’s chin.
In round 3 and 4 problems began arising for the Puerto Rican champion, as Pacquiao’s overwhelming speed, as well as the number of punches landed started to become a significant factor. Cotto was dropped in these rounds, resulting in 10-8 scoring.
After about round 7 the fight was pretty much over, Cotto slowing and Pacquiao maintaining, if not increasing the intensity and volume of combinations and flurries. To be honest, it was a good contest, and not as lopsided as some people say. While Cotto obviously absorbed the majority of the damage, it was a result from the sheer volume, and power of punches landed by Pacquiao,
Finally, the ref stopped it in Round 12, as Cotto limped away bloody and bruised. While the stoppage was understandable, the ref should have let Cotto complete the fight, or, his corner should have thrown in the towel earlier. Either way, it was total desecration by the Pac Man.

ya every time cotto started to look good he got too overzealous and got put to the canvas
