Strikeforce: Miami Quick Predictions and Weigh-In Pictures

Sorry for not updating the site recently. It’s partially due to the lack of MMA events and news, but mostly because I am super busy right now. I couldn’t turn down writing predictions for this card though, as there are some really good fights, and some not-so-good, laugh out loud ones.
Nick Diaz vs. Marius Žaromskis
Man, what can I say about this fight? I love the art of BJJ but I really hate Nick Diaz. His peppering bullshit and skills on the ground are really going to give Žaromskis some problems. Marius’s fight against Sakurai showed that even though he can punch, kick, and knee ridiculously hard, he can also be pretty easily counter-punched by a moderately skilled person on the feet. Nick Diaz however, can be punched in the face brutally hard, break his orbital bone, and yet still continue the fight. I think it’s pretty evident from his Diaz’s previous fights; it’s going to take a lot more than a hard strike in order to put him away.
This fights for the Welterweight Strikeforce Title. Maybe that will motivate Žaromskis into desecrating Diaz’s face beyond human recognition, but if the fight goes as planned, chances are Žaromskis won’t be able to handle the counter-punches, and quickness of Diaz. And, if it hits the ground, Diaz’s superior ground skills will overwhelm the Lithuanian pretty quickly in my eyes.
RESULT: Diaz, 3rd Round Submission
Cristiane Santos vs. Marloes Coenen
Girl Fight! Girl Fight! OR is it really a guy vs. a girl in this fight. Cyborg is a fucking beast and Coenen does not have much experience with higher teir female fighting. We are watching the evolution of female MMA unfold before our very eyes, and in my estimation because of this we will see a lot of unbalanced mis-matches.
Until Strikeforce can successfully create a female fighting pool, and have contenders move up and down in that division, no one will ever care about a girl fight without Gina Carano or Cristiane Santos.
RESULT: Santos, 1st round Manly Beating
Melvin Manhoef vs. Robbie Lawler
This fight will actually be really good. Both fighters are skilled stand-up artists so expect to see a pretty good fireworks show. Manhoef has the advantage standing with superior kicks, and devastating knees. Because both are so ridiculously pathetic on the ground I can’t really see the fight ending up there, so expect to see a gassed Robbie Lawler with his hands down, eating punches and kicks to the face.
I always thought Lawler sucked, even when he was knocking everyone out. Manhoef is equally as bad, but at least I give him the intensity factor that seems to have left Lawler in his last couple fights.
RESULT: Manhoef, 2nd round KO
Herschel Walker vs. Greg Nagy
I like how Strikeforce and EliteXC both appreciate/d the old freak show reminiscent of Japan. Walker is a washed up old fart football player and Nagy is pretty inexperienced and probably terrible. Damn, Walker looks fucking ripped in his weigh in photo, I guess age doesn’t have much to do with being ridiculously ripped. Nagy on the other hand looks like a SoCal douche bag begging for a beating.
I can’t give it to the freak though. I hope Nagy has some submission skills.
RESULT: Nagy, 1st round submission
Bobby Lashley vs. Wes Sims
Wow fuck my life into pieces. Bobby fucking Lashley from the WWE. And the perfect opponent, Wes “motherfucking” Sims, who got pathetically knocked out in the last season of TUF, when I backed him for the win. Not to mention, he now looks like a fat ass who hasn’t been training. Fucking Fat Jim Carey asshole.
To be honest, it’s perfect for Lashley. A big name, not so good, easily beatable. As much as I hate to say it, Lashley probably has this one.
RESULT: Lashley, 2nd round body slam through the canvas
“Fuck!!!”

ya I got all the same predicts except Diaz and Lashley by Decisions.
i was pretty happy with the event overall, the cyborg v coennen fight was better than i expected and i was kind of impressed by hershels ability to maintain for that long, even though that dude was a total can. and wow what a fat piece of shit wes simms is, i also cant beleive i ever had any respect for him
sims was fucking terrible he really let himself go, he kept doing that really awesome move when he put his hands behind his legs and then got punched in the face 20 times.
and who the fuck is Nagy....? He looked like some scrub off the street
Everything went pretty much how i thought it was. Except the random KO of Manhoef and Herschel actually controlling the fight on the ground. I was actually pleasantly surprised the 47 year old was able to show off his skills. Superior Olympic level athleticism (even if it's bobsledding god damnit) means something.
